CPqD performed a Wi-Fi technology corporate network security project for a Brazilian company located in Rio de Janeiro and considered as one of the world leaders in its segment.
The work received great acceptance on part of the customer and so this will function as a technology deployment model in all of its building which are spread out all over the country.
A survey involving the customer's needs was able to identify a major worry about the Wi-Fi technology vulnerability and about the priority to satisfy information security requirements.
A complete security model was implemented along with the integration of appropriate mechanisms in each network layer. The recommended model included coverage minimization in critical areas and the adoption of advanced Wi-Fi network information security mechanisms. In spite of that, the required service quality to support the applications was not jeopardized.
The project included the development of a gateway of services to support applications related to voice, video and data, making therefore easier the system access for users. All the VoIP service infrastructure interconnection with the public telephony network was specified by CPqD, according to all the security requirements.
Different information security aspects were tested in the corporate computing environment. In addition, an evaluation of coverage restrictions and of support to the applications and to specified services was performed.
