Satisfying the needs of these two types of growth has led to the identification of the necessity for the automate management concerning all the telecommunications outside plant aspects. This is the only way out to guarantee an optimized growth as well as the best possible use of network resources so that both the existing customers and the potential ones can be contemplated with good services.
The deployment of CPqD Outside Plant was performed gradually. At a first stage, when plants were digitalized, the register databases of the company were created.
The deployment of the operations module required the development of a specific methodology to allow the transfer of legacy system information from the company to the CPqD Outside Plant. This methodology previewed the consolidation of data related to the previous system with register information. This allowed the identification and the solution of several inconsistencies in the existing register. The gradual production demanded a joint work with the customer to allow the coexistence of the systems in operation - either legacy or current. Therefore, the service flow interruption was avoided in the company.
Areas whose facilities started to be managed by CPqD Outside Plant envisaged a significant growth of automatic assignment indices in addition to the reduction of external services, the reduction in installation costs and of the switching-off of subscribers.
At present, network projects are executed directly in the system, which facilitates and automates several intermediate stages of the workflow. Within this context, the interfaces with service providers were automated as well. This process comprised different parts of the process, from the elaboration and the approval of the project up to its field construction and the release of the corresponding invoices.
A distinguished feature of this working mode is the direct way of action involving the contractor companies and CPqD Outside Plant, which contributes for the outside plant update and management. Meanwhile, the information remain under the supervision of the operating company, which has the means to audit and control the access to data related to its network.
The updated register is also helpful to make strategic decisions within the market areas, which take advantage of one of the system modules to perform demand studies, service offer strategies, based upon theme maps and alphanumeric data, which are easily made available and updated in real time.
Concurrently with the deployment of plant and facilities management, the company used the Public Telephony module to manage the installation of public phones within the range of its coverage areas so that the telecommunications regulating department exigencies were guaranteed. Presently, this module is used to guarantee the attainment of the goals at the same time as it looks for the optimization of public telephone installation.
