The technology developed by CPqD, unique in Latin America, is manufactured on industrial scale

The technology of the Raman optical booster fully developed by CPqD, is being manufactured by Padtec - Produtos de Alto Desafio Tecnológico, a company that manufactures systems and equipment for optical communication, with headquarters in Campinas, SP. The company incorporated the product in its DWDM system and is already marketing it. Raman, which uses Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier technology ? EDFA, is a booster equipment designed to amplify signals in optical communications systems.

Its technology enables several applications, using less transmission power and presenting various benefits for fiber-optics communications systems, among them, broad spectral band, high-saturation power and low noise. The non-linear effect, the foundation for operation of the Raman booster, can be generated in any type of fiber optics used in telecommunications and is responsible for the signal-level enhancement: the result is the signal amplification in the system output. The appealing differentials of the product are its attractive cost and the renowned quality of the Consulting and technical support provided by CPqD. According to Carlos Eduardo Salla, CPqD Manager, these are the features that differentiate it from similar products available. "The booster is the only one with 100% national technology. Few companies in the world detain this technology and in Latin America, CPqD is the only one", he states.

According to Padtec President, José Henrique de Oliveira, the company will be able to expand the scope of solutions provided with the incorporation of the technology to its Metropad Platform. "Our first purchase was made by one of the largest telecommunications carriers in Brazil", he states.
