Working with a Quality Management System
Understanding quality as a primordial value and a good to be cultivated by all, has allowed CPqD to face great challenges, which have been overcome in the course of the years. The determination of the entire organization to pursue quality was decisive: from managers, assuming commitments with an effective policy, and from the internal teams, promoting the evolution of their processes.
From the start, the challenge was to build an integrated management system and a decisive step for CPqD to effectively reach its actual goals was the creation of a Quality Counselor in 1997. It was created to handle the quality management in an official and systemic manner, with an initial mission to support and concentrate already existent efforts in quality handling in its consulting activities and development of product technologies, in software development and in the accrediting of laboratory essays, focusing its organizational view on an integrated management system. The first achievement occurred in the following year, with the accreditation of the Calibration Laboratory by Inmetro, a result of a previously initiated effort. In July 2000, the first ISO 9001 certification for consulting services was received.
The experience of working with quality systems goes back to the beginning of the 90?s, when CPqD took part in its implementation in its own laboratories and in those of the carriers. At the same time, its desire to stay attuned to everything happening in the world in terms of evolution in the software development processes has always been intense.
Certainty of higher efficiency and customer satisfaction
The CMM achievement, the accreditation by Inmetro and the extension of the ISO certification scope, now in its 2000 version, signify recognition of CPqD?s capability by independent organizations. This recognition has an extremely positive effect on the internal teams, reinforcing the confidence necessary to continually improve, converging their actions towards greater satisfaction and confidence among customers.
Working inside an integrated system for quality management means achieving other advantages, among them, productivity increase, motivation and better team skill, the standardization of all work processes, generating corporate identity and better quality of life in the work environment.
