Parks expects to start producing Proxim WiMax technology in May - Brazil
"We were delayed because they had to adapt the factory from producing digital modems to producing WiMax products," Rodrigues said.
Proxim, which produces end-to-end solutions in Wi-Fi Mesh, WiMax, WLAN and wireless backhaul, signed a license agreement in October 2006 to allow Parks and the government's telecoms research unit CPqD to manufacture its products locally.
The agreement entitles Parks and CPqD to adapt Proxim's WiMax hardware and software to the local market, Proxim's CEO Robert Fitzgerald previously told BNamericas.
Consultancy Maravedis expects Brazil's broadband wireless access/WiMax market to be worth US$300mn by 2010.
