CPqD

Nossa Caixa, which has recently merged with Banco do Brasil, was granted the 2009 IT & Government Award by Plano Editorial, in the Information Security segment. This project, based on the development of the CPqD Fraud and Event Integrated Management solution, has assisted Nossa Caixa in reducing the number of electronic fraud and was evaluated and selected by a judging committee that took into consideration criteria such as innovation, social relevance and human resource involvement.

The bank acquired CPqD solution last year to prevent electronic frauds by reviewing the processes and software applications enabled by Business Intelligence (BI) neural network technologies. These tools help to detect and prevent frauds.

This solution is being used to prevent debit card frauds. The tool is primarily designed for Internet Banking but can be customized for other applications. According to José Waldir Carvalho, manager at the Nossa Caixa Corporate Security Department, the most important benefit offered by the solution is the feeling of security that the customer have during an electronic transaction over any channel. “It is security adding value to business”, he adds.
