Senior research officer at the European Commission DG INFSO, launched several research lines in communications, networking and Internet-related technologies, services and applications, including the SAC (Situated and Autonomic Communications) FET Proactive initiative in 2004, and the FIRE (Future Internet Research and Experimentation) in 2007.

Focusing on innovative research ideas and original approaches with high potential for economic and market relevance. His main interests are the technological possibilities, the user experience and the socio-economic impact of new technologies and services. He strongly believes that the way to truly innovative research is based on openness, brainstorming, concertation.
