Last HIDS meeting of 2022 takes place at CPQD

The project's board points out the year's actions as very fruitful

In early December, CPQD hosted the last 2022 meeting of the Council of the International Hub for Sustainable Development (HIDS). The event brought a retrospective of the actions of 2022, discussed new perspectives for the next year and allowed for a moment of fraternization among all.

The meeting was attended by the Rector of UNICAMP, Antônio José de Almeida Meirelles; the Rector of PUC-Campinas, Germano Rigacci, the HIDS Coordinator, Mariano Laplane; the Secretary of Economic Development, Technology and Innovation of Campinas, Adriana Flosi; CPQD Corporate Management Executive Director, Raquel Pieroni; CPQD's Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Paulo Curado; in addition to other members of the Council.

In their speeches, those present recalled the origin of HIDS, the initial challenges and highlighted the year 2022 as a very fruitful one, with significant advances towards the consolidation of the project's foundations. For the rector of UNICAMP, Antônio José de Almeida Meirelles, the prognosis of the project is very positive: “Temexcellent perspectives for 2023. HIDS is very relevant and not only for Campinas. I believe we will have catalytic and significant opportunities for the year ahead.”

HIDS Coordinator Mariano Laplane adds: “We started the year with a series of unknowns. But we made progress and the perspectives are very good. Temgreat challenges, but the chances of overcoming them are spectacular”.

For the rector of PUC-Campinas, Germano Rigacci, 2022 was a year of hard work, allowing the possibility of implementing the project in 2023. “To dream of a different life is to dream of achieving HIDS”, he highlights. The Secretary of Economic Development, Technology and Innovation of Campinas, Adriana Flosi, in turn, pointed out collaboration as fundamental to achieving good results: “The sum of all forces will bring a favorable result”.

CPQD supports and integrates this initiative, as a member of the Founding Advisory Council of HIDS, which is formed by a total of 15 institutions and companies from Campinas, in addition to the government of the state of São Paulo. “Like the CPQD, the mission of HIDS is associated with helping the progress and well-being of society. It's a new Campinas, a new state, a new country that are being projected”, says CPQD's Corporate Management Executive Director, Raquel Pieroni. CPQD's Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Paulo Curado, goes further: “It is a pioneering initiative in the region, which will benefit society as a whole”.

All HIDS actions aim to promote a new paradigm of urban development, through the concept of smart cities and sustainability, enabling a high quality of life for local inhabitants. Its initiatives also aim to meet and encourage the UN's 2030 Agenda, with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – a commitment signed by 193 countries, including Brazil. In this sense, HIDS works to preserve and conserve the environment.

The area destined for the project includes Unicamp's current campus in Barão Geraldo, PUC-Campinas and the entire Ciatec II (Polo II de Alta Tecnologia de Campinas), where the CPQD is located.
