CPQD and PUC-Campinas innovate with the launch of a technological residency

Applications for the program are open until March 1st; The objective is to meet the demand of the professional market in the areas of AI, IoT and Cybersecurity

CPQD and PUC-Campinas launch, this February, a Technological Training Program in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet das Coisas (IoT) and Cybernetic Security, which will be offered – free of charge – to students and professionals interested in joining these areas. Starting on March 15, the program provides for an 18-month process, divided into two phases: theoretical (in online format) and practical. The first will be offered by the University and the second by CPQD.

The initiative is a Priority Program of National Interest (PPI), which has the support of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and is coordinated by Softex, a development, innovation and digital transformation company. The objective is to prepare and train university students from technology-related courses, as well as professionals with an interest in AI, IoT and Cybersecurity, but without prior experience in these areas.

For Eniceli Rodrigues Moraes Pinto, CPQD project manager, the initiative seeks to fill a market gap in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). “We identified a lack of trained professionals with experience to work on projects in the areas of AI, IoT and Cybersecurity. The program will contribute to qualifying them to work with greater expertise in emerging and cutting-edge technology projects”, she emphasizes.

Diane Teo de Moraes, manager of the Mescla Program (PUC-Campinas Innovation Hub), also identifies the sector's growth potential. “Temperceived the deficit of professionals prepared to serve these markets. The Residency Training Program offered in partnership with CPQD and Softex is an initiative with a direct impact on such a promising and strategic market”, he reinforces.

Considered a technological residence, the project uses the PBL (Project Based Learning) methodology, in which students will apply previous theoretical knowledge in a problem situation. But the great innovation of this program is that the participants will work in real situations, in CPQD projects and those of potential partners, with an advanced technological development degree, in accordance with the needs of the market.

According to the president of CPQD, Sebastião Sahão Junior, the partnership combines the best of the organization, with the performance in cutting-edge technologies, and all the university's know-how in the theoretical training of the student. “Together with PUC-Campinas, we are going to train and create opportunities for highly qualified professionals to work on large projects at CPQD and in the market. This is an important contribution to our society”, he highlights.

For the rector of PUC-Campinas, Germano Rigacci Júnior, this is an initiative in line with the University's vocation. “The partnership between PUC-Campinas and CPQD makes the professional and human training of our students more complete. This union is an opportunity for them to grow and also raise the quality of knowledge built. In addition, the University already makes up the ecosystemtemof innovation in the region and the tema is one of the institution's strategic axes, which contributes to the consolidation of a prosperous environment for innovation”, he comments.

Registrations

Registration for those interested in participating in the program is now open and will run until March 1, via the link https://estude.puc-campinas.edu.br/residencia-tecnologica. 160 students will be selected, who will undergo courses in Data Science and Machine Learning. Then, still on the learning path, students will be able to choose between Computer Vision, NLP, Speech and Cybersecurity courses. In this phase of the training, there will be six weekly classes, four of which are synchronous (live) and two asynchronous (recorded), in the online modality.

After completing the theoretical part, applicants will go through an evaluation panel, which will select 80 students to go on to practice at CPQD. There will be 20 hours per week, divided between face-to-face and online training. In this phase, lasting nine months, students will receive a grant to support practical training at CPQD.
