CPQD presents technologies and applications at an event about 5G in Manaus.

President participated in a panel at the 5G.BR Seminar on the impacts of this technology on education; at the exhibition, CPQD showed the application of 5G in the area of electric mobility.

The benefits of connectivity and, in particular, the new 5G technology are the focus of a series of seminars that the Ministry of Communications has been holding in several capitals across the country. And CPQD had an important participation in the Manaus edition of the Seminar 5G.BR, held on Thursday, 22/09, in the capital of Amazonas, where it presented some of its technologies and competences.

President Sebastião Sahão Júnior was one of the guests on the event's first panel, which addressed the tema The impacts of 5G on Education. Moderated by André Miceli, CEO and editor-in-chief of MIT Technology Review Brasil, the panel also included the participation of the Minister of Education Victor Godoy Veiga, who spoke about the opportunities for improving the quality of education that 5G connectivity should bring to the Amazon region – and for the entire country.

The president of CPQD recalled that the Covid-19 pandemic accelerated the digitalization process in several sectors – including education – and contributed to speed up the auction and the implementation of 5G in Brazil. “5G can contribute fortementity for access to educational content by the poorest and most outdated regions, standardizing education in the country, from basic to advanced education”, he said. The president also highlighted the importance of open innovation and ecosystemtemthat of entrepreneurship in the country for the development of applications suited to the needs of the Brazilian reality.

As an example, Sebastião mentioned the pilot of a sustainable energy platform, developed by CPQD and implemented in the indigenous community of São Gabriel da Cachoeira, in the Amazon rainforest. “To bring connectivity to schools in more remote communities, which often lack electricity, it is also necessary to provide this resource. This is a contribution to the universalization of infrastructure and connectivity in the country, which CPQD is developing with startups, in a collaborative environment and within public policies”, he emphasized.

In the exhibition parallel to the Seminar 5G.BR, CPQD, Padtec and Trópico shared a stand where they presented complete technological solutions for 5G networks and an application in the area of electric mobility – one of the segments benefiting from the resources of the new generation of mobile communications.

Companies Padtec and Trópico took to the exhibition a set of equipment aimed at the infrastructure of 5G networks. This ranges from radio access units, responsible for communicating with mobile devices, to optical communications solutions, such as high-capacity transponders, optical amplifiers and passive components, which can be used both in the backbone and in access and aggregation networks. It also includes core networking and software integration solutions.

Trópico also presented its 4G LTE connectivity solution in the 250 MHz frequency, developed in partnership with CPQD with FINEP resources, which has been used in rural and remote areas of the country by companies in sectors such as agribusiness, electricity, railway and mining, among others.

CPQD's focus was on an application that will benefit from the greater speed, security and high availability of the new 5G networks. An electric vehicle was placed at the stand to show the potential of the E-Recarga application, developed by the organization, which facilitates the search and scheduling of times to recharge the battery at nearby charging stations. The application works integrated with an electric mobility platform, which manages the infrastructure of charging stations and their availability, allowing reservations to be made, and also enables the charging process for energy use. All this requires a sistemintegrated and massive number of sensors that need connectivity and will certainly benefit from 5G resources.
