The installation ceremony of the National Cybersecurity Committee (CNCiber), created by the Institutional Security Office (GSI) of the Presidency of the Republic, took place on March 20, in Brasília – when the first meeting of this committee was also held, which tem the CPQD among its members. The organization is one of three scientific, technological and innovation institutions represented in the CNCiber, which also includes representatives from ministries and other bodies linked to the government, civil society entities and the business sector.

At the first meeting, three Working Groups were defined TemCNCiber attics. Sérgio Ribeiro, who has worked in CPQD's cybersecurity area since 2004 and is the organization's representative on the new committee, is part of the working group responsible for updating and improving the National Cybersecurity Strategy (e-Ciber). The other two groups focus on preparing a proposal to create a national cybersecurity governance body – responsible for its regulation, supervision and control – and defining Brazil's performance parameters in the different international cybersecurity organizations.

According to Minister Marcos Antonio Amaro dos Santos, from the Institutional Security Office, the first generation of the National Cybersecurity Strategy, from 2020, lacked a policy to guide it, being already out of alignment with strategies from other countries. Its improvement is the responsibility of the working group integrated by Sérgio Ribeiro.

“It is important to note that the review process must carefully evaluate not only current challenges, but also emerging trends and threats in the global cyber landscape,” notes Sérgio. “In addition, we need to ensure that our strategy is flexible enough to adapt to rapid and continuous changes in the digital environment”, adds the CPQD specialist.

The National Cybersecurity Committee was established by Decree No. 11.856, of December 26, 2023, together with the National Cybersecurity Policy. The committee members, full and alternate, were appointed in February this year, through an order from the Institutional Security Office, for a three-year term.
